Don't Miss: Somers Owl Prowl; Yorktown Farm-to-Table Fundraiser; 'Nunsense'

There are tons of ways to keep busy around Yorktown and Somers this weekend, and we're here to help you decide which happenings are for you. Here are the details for several great events.

Somers: Adventures in Horticulture

Adventures in Horticulture for children Ages 3 – 6 will be held on Friday, Nov. 1 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial in Somers. You and your child or grandchild can have fun exploring the world of horticulture through gardening activities, nature walks and special projects each week. Fee: $6 per child per session, which includes materials; pre-registration required at (914) 886-5108.

Somers: November Art Exhibit

Local artists from the Mahopac area will exhibit a collection of paintings at the Somers Library during the month of November. The exhibit will include a 
collection of landscapes, floral, still life and animal paintings. A reception will be held in the Library Program Room on Friday, Nov. 1 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Call the library for viewing times in the Program Room. 

Yorktown: Farm-to-Table Fundraiser for Global Focus on Cancer

Join Hilltop Hanover Farm for an autumnal farm-to-table dinner to benefit Global Focus on Cancer on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 5 p.m. Tickets start at $100 per person and it includes a 4-course gourmet dinner, wine, beer, soft drinks, silent auction. More details here.

Shrub Oak Athletic Club Collects Items for Food Pantry

Support the Shrub Oak Athletic Club Kickers soccer team on Saturday, Nov. 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School as they collect non-perishable food items to help feed families during this holiday season. More details here.

Somers: Blacksmithing Workshop at Muscoot Farm

The Blacksmithing Workshop at Somers' Muscoot Farm will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Learn this age-old craft with blacksmith Bill Fitzgerald. For adults 18 years of age and older.Fee $85. Pre-registration required at www.muscootfarm.org or (914) 864-7286.

Somers: Owl Prowl at Muscoot Farm

Join naturalist and owl expert Frank Gallo for a nocturnal hike to call these elusive birds. Bring a flashlight and meet in the activities building. The event will be held at Somers' Muscoot Farm on Saturday, Nov. 2 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Mohegan Lake: 'Nunsense' at the Winery

Catch "Nunsense," a two-act musical at the Winery at St. George (1715 E. Main Street in Mohegan Lake) on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. The show is about a group of nuns putting on a show to raise the money needed to bury some of their sisters, lost to a tragic vichyssoise recipe.
