Members of Yorktown American Legion Post #1009 will accept donations of non-perishable food items on Oct. 1 outside the A&P Supermarkets in Shrub Oak and the Triangle Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Members of the Yorktown American Legion Post #1009 will on Oct. 1 to benefit the Montrose Veterans Administration Food Pantry.

On Saturday, Oct. 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. members will have tables outside the A&P Supermarket in Shrub Oak on East Main Street and the one in the Triangle Shopping Center. Donations of non-perishable food items could be dropped off as customers exit the stores.

"Veterans receiving treatment at the Veterans Administration facility at Montrose are often on a fixed disability income and some are barely making ends meet in today’s expensive world," Patrick McDonough wrote in a press release. "Veterans that have honorably served their country should not have to suffer the indignity of going without food items until their next paycheck comes in."
