Teen Center Members get Treated to Mets Game

Mets donated game tickets to Yorktown Teen Center members.

Yorktown Teen Center members and their families traveled to Citi Field where they were treated to a Mets game on Friday, August 27. The teens were captured on the field's Jumbo Tron as they cheered for the teams' runs.

The trip was arranged by former Yankees Senior Director of Media Relations Rick Cerrone, who grew up in Yorktown and attended an earlier version of the Teen Center 35 years ago. Through his connections, he got in touch with the Mets, who donated the tickets to the game.

"This was the first of many trips to come for our members and it was a great way for us to end summer programming and our first year," Teen Center President Helena Rodriguez said.

Rick Cerrone will be the keynote speaker at the Teen Center's October 16 first fundraising dinner, to be held at the Putnam National Golf Course, in Mahopac. There the Joan Valenstein Memorial Youth Advocate Award will be presented to Jeffrey Veatch, the teen center's president said.

In addition, the center's Open Mic series will resume on October 1 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will be held the first Friday of the month. In November and December part of the entrance "fee" teens can bring a non-perishable food item, which would be given to the Yorktown Food Pantry for their holiday distribution, Rodriguez said.
