Relay for Life Has Personal Meaning for Gary Raniolo

Gary Raniolo lost his sister Barbara Jean to cancer when she was only 6 years old.

For some, Yorktown’s Relay for Life was a tremendous cause. For too many others, like , it was personal. He lost his sister Barbara Jean to cancer when she was only 6 years old.

“Not a day goes by that I don’t think of her, and wonder what her life and my family’s life would be like if there was a cure” said Raniolo as he walked the track Friday evening.

Raniolo is a candidate for Town Justice.

Given the promising developments of recent treatment regimens, Raniolo said he feels we may be on the threshold of some real breakthroughs.

“Science has been responsible for exponential development in so many areas recently, with the right combination of resources and intellect, a breakthrough is within reach,” he said.

He said he was proud to see his friends and neighbors out for Relay for Life.

“Support like this is what makes Yorktown a special place, and why I want to serve,” Raniolo said.
