Town Board Acts on Ethics Issue

Town Board gave 4 officials 21 days to submit required Financial Disclosure Forms or face automatic suspension. Also discussed what is a "personal attack" during Courtesy of Floor.

1. Digitization of town records
Supervisor Grace announced that the Board has requested Sullivan Data, the town’s IT consultant, to prepare an RFP for the purchase of the software needed to digitize the town’s existing paper records.
 
2. Courtesy of the Floor
Personal attacks.  Controversy arose over what constitutes a "personal attack" and how Board members should react to such perceived comments.  
 
Signs. Denise D’Amico expressed concern over the proliferation of signs throughout town, noting that the problem was getting worse.
 
3. Winery
Supervisor Grace said he anticipated a future vote on an amended site plan that would not include the town owned parcel.
 
4. Ethics Law/Annual Financial Disclosure Form
The Board gave four town officials 21 days to submit the required 2012 Financial Disclosure Form or else face automatic suspension. The supervisor did not identify the four individuals or their positions.
 
A discussion followed, with differing opinions, as to whether the existing disclosure requirements were intrusive, violated a person’s rights or were counterproductive.
 
5. Volunteer Boards
Accepted the resignation of Thomas DeChiaro as a member of the Landmarks Preservation Commission.
