Special election law for vacancies to be revised -- again

The town will return to the drawing board to redraft the local law on how to fill vacancies in elected positions after questions were raised about some provisions in the second draft. A third draft is expected next week.

1. Public Hearing on local law to fill vacancy in elected positions
After attention was called to a possible flaw in the proposed law, and suggestions were made for other changes, the board, in a 2-2 vote, rejected the law and directed the town attorney and the town clerk to meet with the Board of Elections commissioners to address certain legal issues and then prepare a third draft law for review at next week’s board meeting.
 
2. Sylvan Glen/Granite Knolls parkland alienation
Subject to a review by the Town Board, the town attorney will send a draft of the town’s responses to a 3-page questionnaire in support of its parkland alienation request.to the state Parks Department.
 
3. Fluoridation
Three contracts that would have moved the fluoridation project forward were pulled from the agenda because the town attorney had not had time to review them.
 
4. Hunterbrook Field
The town will spend  $11,825 for soil testing for a proposed multi use field.
 
5.Turkey Mountain
The town accepted a donation of 4.5 acres adjacent to the Turkey Mountain Park Preserve .
