No progress filling Town Board vacancy

Town Board members agreed to meet in informal pairs of two to exchange names to fill the board vacancy by appointment. A donation will make Wi Fi service available in town hall.

1. Traffic Issues
The Public Safety Committee is proposing stop signs on several local streets and Highway Superintendent Paganelli asked the board to restrict parking to the Solaris side of Veterans Road during the winter. The town attorney will draft the appropriate local law which will be subject to a public hearing.
 
2. Ethics Board
After Councilman Murphy made a motion to ask the Ethics Board to investigate who leaked the Ethics Board’s findings on a complaint, Councilman Patel said that he had given the report, which had no confidentiality stamp on it, to the newspaper.
 
3. Town Board vacancy
After Councilman Bianco said he would not make public the three names he was suggesting to his fellow board members but would discuss the matter in a closed session, Town Attorney Koster suggested that the board members meet in pairs to discuss potential candidates. Supervisor Grace said he had no problem with such caucuses.  
 
Councilman Bianco asked that a draft of the proposed local law calling for vacancies to be filled by special election be discussed at the board’s next meeting.
 
4. Selected resolutions, passed unanimously
WI Fi donation. Sullivan Data, the town’s IT vendor, has donated $4,000 worth of equipment to provide wi fi service in town hall.
 
Police officers. The board authorized making a hiring offer to two police officers.
