Town Board OKs Winery Rezoning and Four Other Laws

Town Board okays Winery rezoning and use of town parkland, four other local laws; postpones DPW discussion and adopts Ethics Board procedures.

1. Personnel
Kathleen Scanlon was appointed Librarian II and David Doherty was promoted to senior auto mechanic in the Central Garage.
 
2. Department of Public Works (DPW)
A member of Yorktown Citizens for a DPW repeated his group’s request to meet with the Town Board to discuss the steps leading up to a November referendum that would give residents the opportunity to vote on whether they wanted to establish a DPW.
 
3. Fleet maintenance
Supervisor Grace discussed the need for truck washing in order to preserve the useful lfie of town vehicles.
 
4. Accessory structures  
Resident alleges that a property owner is violating the spirit of 2011 zoning amendments that regulated the size of accessory structures.
 
5. Winery at St. George
In a 5-0 vote, the Board approved the transitional zoning for the property and the use of a portion of town-owned parkland for additional parking, subject to obtaining a wetlands permit and other conditions.
 
6. IBM Helistop
In a 5-0 vote, the Board approved new language in the Zoning Ordinance establishing a special permit allowing helistops in OB zones. 
 
7. Affordable housing  zoning amendments
In a 5-0 vote, the Board amended provisions of the Zoning Ordinance affecting 11 existing affordable housing units built many years ago.
 
8. Procurement of Goods and Services Law
In  5-0 vote, the Board adopted a “best value” procurement law.
 
9. Selected  Resolutions
a. Adopted procedures for the Ethics Board
b. Authorized signing of contract for marketing the Bernstein House
c. Adjustments to June Board meeting schedule.
 
10. Budget/Audit Committee
The Board is accepting resumes for this advisory committee.
