No. 7 Yorktown's girls lacrosse squad won a hard-fought game in the Section 1 Class B quarterfinals on May 19 at No. 2 John Jay 12-10 according to Rob DiAntonio's story on MSG Varsity.

Senior Bianca Raniolo led the Huskers (7-9-1) with four goals and two assists. Kara Starkey registered three goals and two assists, while Gaby Berne scored twice.

Emily Concialdi (1G, 1A), Stefanie Ranagan (1G), Emma Kaishian (1G) and Heather Raniolo (1A) also were part of the Huskers' offensive production.

Katie Frederick made 11 clutch saves for Yorktown.

Rebels Roll

DiAntonio was all over it on Saturday, as he also reported that No. 1 Lakeland/Panas (15-0-2) defeated No. 8 White Plains 19-7 in the quarterfinals of the Section 1 Class A Tournament.

Emma Bozek (5G, 1A), Molly Fitzpatrick (5G, 1A), Alexa Bonnes (4G, 1A), Amanda Vasta (2G), Chyna Hill (1G), Taylor Scialdone (1G, 1A), Kate Weldon (1G), Samantha Ressegue (1A), Gianna Bensaia (1A) and Amelia Lopez (five saves) all made it into the boxscore for the host Rebels.

Softball

We thank Yorktown coach John McKenna for the below submission:

Yorktown defeats John Jay Cross River for the second day in a row 6-2 on May 19. Nicole Wilson on her Senior Day set the tone for the game in the bottom of the first.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first after Amanda Bozentko drove in the tying run, Wilson gave Yorktown the lead for good with a 2-run homer to left field. Wilson scattered 10 hits over 7 innings to earn the win. She gave up 2 runs in a 11-strikeout effort.
