Two Local Scouts Receive Court of Honor

Congratulations to Domenick Velardi and Andrew Barbaretti, who reached the highest Scout honor.

Eagle Scouts Domenick Velardi and Andrew Barbaretti of Troop 238 in Shrub Oak attained the highest Scout honor when they recently received the Court of Honor.

The Court of Honor is the official presentation of their Eagle Scout certificates and medal, and includes letters of congratulation/commendation. This is the ceremony in which they are recognized and honored by their troop, family and community. 

Velardi, a senior at Fordham Prep, became an Eagle Scout on November 15, 2011. He has worked hard at earning the rank of Eagle Scout and completed creating a hiking trail including trail marking, clearing, and side hilling in the Sylvan Glen Nature Preserve in Mohegan Lake.

Andrew Barbaretti, a senior at  became an Eagle Scout on January 6, 2012. He has worked hard at earning the rank of Eagle Scout and completed a garden renovation at in Peekskill. This renovation included building and installing new wooden benches, weeding, mulching, cutting down trees and planting. 

Assemblywoman Sandy Galef, Assemblyman Steve Katz, Greg Cane (representing Sen. Greg Ball) and Yorktown town supervisor Michael Grace attended the ceremony on Sunday to congratulate the boys. Cortlandt Town Supervisor Linda Puglisi and County Executive Rob Astorino could not attend but sent commendations.
