The feel-good comedic musical based will be performed on Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the Yorktown High School auditorium.

students will perform "The Music Man Jr.," a feel-good comedic musical based on the original Broadway American classic. Performances will take place on Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the  auditorium.

The play takes place during the early days of the 20th century, when con man Harold Hill arrives at staid River City, Iowa intending to cheat the community out of their money. Instead, he learns a lesson in moral responsibility. With his standard scam to equipand train a boys’ marching band, he finds himself falling in love with Marian, the librarian, while he inadvertently enriches the town with a love of music.

MESMS musical directors Paul Di Rito and Jessie Wallace selected “The Music Man Jr.” as the musical performance for this year because it offers students an opportunity to experience early America on stage, and features many roles for many students to perform on stage or to serve as members of the stage crew. It is a sure crowd pleaser that provides students with a rewarding, educational, and exciting theatrical experience.
