Lakeland Schools Superintendent Thanks Community

As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, Lakeland Central School District Superintendent Dr. George Stone has sent a message in which he thanks the community.

Below is his message in its entirety:

It is hard to believe that we are once again approaching Thanksgiving. The upcoming break is well deserved, and the time with family and friends, invaluable.

I am sincerely thankful to serve here in Lakeland, particularly following the safety referendum as well as recent meetings with parent and teacher organizations. With all that has been "heaped" on our plates, we continue to work together to try and do what is always in the best interests of our students and our community. We listen to each other and, even when we disagree, we express it with dignity and respect. Having recently met with superintendents from our region, I know the same is not true in all school districts.

I want to thank our students, parents, teachers, support staff, administrative staff, board members and the entire Lakeland community for your dedication in making Lakeland the best it can be. This dedication shows; from five field hockey state championships in a row, to overwhelming community support for safety and security, to volunteering time to help kindergartners with Common Core math.

Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families.
