Lakeland School Board Salutes LHS Senior Erin Maurno for "Lots of Love"

Lakeland High School senior develops community program.

A senior has developed a program over this past summer to aid families in need. School board members saluted Erin Maurno during their Thursday meeting.

After exploring where she could carry out her Girl Scout Gold Award project, Erin joined with Community Cares - a non profit company that provides meals, laundry and cleaning services free of charge to families with school-aged children where a parent is struggling with a serious medical diagnosis.

Erin then put together 24 "lots of love" bags for the children of clients at Community Cares after she raised money through a movie night for all the girl scouts in her area. The reusable canvas bags were divided between younger and older children and were filled with a variety of "goodies" including games, movies, markers, books, popcorn, and sweets.
