Annual Gala Honors 4 Making a Difference in Somers Schools

Meet Kathleen Reilly, Somers Girl Scouts Community Leader.

This spring, as usual, the Somers Education Foundation is honoring four local individuals for their distinguished service at its annual Gala.

Here's the second Patch post about the honorees: meet Kathleen Reilly, Somers Girl Scouts Community Leader.

Kathleen Reilly has been deeply involved in many activities that have benefited our children, but she has most notably left her imprint on the Somers Girl Scouts organization. Since 2007, she has been the Service Unit Manager,  overseeing and helping to plan events and community activities for more than 60 troops and 500 Girl Scouts, which has helped to ensure that they have a very positive experience, wrapped in the spirit of Scouting.

Reilly also served as a troop leader for 12 years and has held other leadership positions, including as Annual Giving Chair and delegate to the Girl Scout Council. In addition to Scouts, she has been a board member of the Community YMCA and chaired the Healthy Kids Campaign the last four years, helping to raise more than $100,000. She has also  been a member of the PTA Council and is currently helping with fundraising for the Somers High School PTSA.

Reilly is also active in the new TEAM Tuskers Mentoring Program for Somers Intermediate School and SomersMiddle School Students, creating and facilitating training programs for mentors and assisting with orientation programs for mentors, students and parents.  She has also been involved in local Habitat for Humanity efforts.

A professional in the banking industry for 28 years, she has lived in Somers for 22 years and been married to fellow SEF honoree John Reilly for 23 years. They have two children, Bridget and Patrick.  Reilly graduated from John Jay High School and earned degrees form Mercy College and the University of Bridgeport.
