Putnam Valley High School Senior Honored as BOCES’ Student of Distinction

At a meeting on May 8, the Putnam Valley School District’s Board of Education honored Putnam Valley High School senior Ileana Tucker as a Student of Distinction for her outstanding achievements at Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES’ Tech Center.

From the beginning of the school year, Tucker has demonstrated strong leadership skills especially during her time in the Tech Center’s Engineering Lab.   An active member of the Engineering Robotics Team, Tucker acted as the team’s coordinator during all of its events and even designed the logo for the team. She is described by those who know her as “a remarkable student” who is “always attentive and inquisitive.”

“I fell so special to have been honored,” Tucker said. “I really like how hands-on the program is.”
