New Coordinator of Professional Library and School Library System at BOCES

With a father who is a retired New York City school librarian, Joe Mannozzi has always felt that being in the library science field was “in his blood.”  And that, coupled with his training and experience, made Joe a perfect fit to take over the reins of BOCES’ library services.

As the new Coordinator of BOCES’ Professional Library and School Library System, Joe supports the library’s 18 member districts. The Professional Library provides its members (more than 70 librarians in 95 schools) with professional development opportunities, site visits, professional networking events, subscription database management and interlibrary loans. Joe also assists colleagues in the Curriculum & Instructional Services department and elsewhere in BOCES.

Joes comes to BOCES from the Rye City School District where he served as librarian in the middle and high schools. Before that, he had been an elementary school teacher in the Bronx for several years. During his tenure in the Bronx, Joe made the switch from classroom teaching to the area of library science, serving as a school librarian for two years.
