Bedford Student Named “Student of Distinction”

David Parra-Ramirez, a Bedford fourth grade who attends Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES’ program at Lincoln Titus Elementary School in Crompond, was named a “Student of Distinction” by his educational team. David’s accomplishments were recognized at a recent Bedford Central School District Board of Education meeting.

David’s family was on hand for the award presentation, as was his educational team, including Adam Van Der Stuyf, BOCES Director of Special Education. Van Der Stuyf noted that David is a “hard worker, a high achiever and an avid reader who strives to meet the expectations of his classroom environment.”

David attended the Walden School on BOCES Yorktown campus since he was kindergarten-aged and made the move to BOCES’ Local School Building Program at Lincoln Titus this September.  David’s teacher, Danielle Camia, described David as a hard worker who always puts forth lots of effort. “He has made a great transition from Walden to Lincoln Titus, where he attends specials, lunch and recess with other fourth graders,” said Camia. “He consistently demonstrates appropriate behavior and has made many friends here.”

Lincoln Titus promotes a message of Tolerance, Wise Choices, Inspiration, Safety and Teamwork (TWIST) throughout the school building, and David “likes the environment fostered here through the TWIST program,” said Camia.

David continually strives to meet the expectations of the classroom, including participating in class discussions and helping his fellow classmates. According to Camia, David arrives at school eager to learn. When asked what he liked best about coming to school, David answered without hesitation: “working hard and trying my best.”
