Yorktown Teen Charged with Shrub Oak Gas Station Robbery

John A. Guckian was charged with a felony for allegedly leaving a Shrub Oak gas station without paying for an item and using "physical force" to retain possession of the merchandise.

The following information was provided by the Yorktown Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 17-year-old Yorktown teen was due in on Tuesday to answer a criminal charge that he allegedly tried to leave a Shrub Oak gas station without paying for an item.

John A. Guckian was charged with third-degree robbery, a felony.

Police responded to the robbery at the Courtesy Shell gas station on Saturday at about 11:19 p.m. When a store employee attempted to stop Guckian, the defendant allegedly used "physical force" to retain possession of the merchandise, police said. They did not identify what item Guckian was allegedly trying to steal.

Guckian was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters. He was later released after a family member posted $7,500 bail on his behalf. He was scheduled to appear in on Sept. 4.
