Yorktown Police Warn of Recent Residential Burglary

Yorktown Police are asking residents to be on the lookout for suspicious people and cars in the wake of a residential burglary.

According to police, at about 10:45 p.m. May 6 a man knocked on the door and rang the doorbell of two adjacent houses.

A resident of one house answered, and the man, described as in his early 20s, white, almost 6 feet tall with short hair and a slim build, asked for directions to a nearby street.

No one answered at the other house, which was burglarized, police said. The suspect fled when the residents woke up, getting into a car waiting in their driveway.

The car is described as white, possibly a Mercedes or other high-end import, with dark tinted windows and bright headlights.

If you see any similar suspicious activity, police ask you to report it with as much detail as possible, including descriptions of people and cars.
