Yorktown Police Solve Burglary Case, Match DNA to Carmel Man

Yorktown police have solved a burglary case thanks to an uncovered DNA and a match to a 33-year-old Carmel man, Yorktown police said.

Investigation of the burglary at a Yorktown home began on Feb. 2, 2013. At the scene police were able to recover DNA evidence, which was then matched to Mark Mendoza, who was being held at the Dutchess County Jail for burglaries committed in Dutchess County, Yorktown police said.

Mendoza was arrested on Aug. 20 after he was picked up at the Dutchess County Jail. The man was processed at Yorktown police headquarters and later remanded back to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.

He was scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on Nov. 12.
