Yorktown Cops: 2 Somers Teens Steal $10 Necklace from Sears

Two Somers teens, ages 15 and 16, are facing criminal charges for stealing a necklace, valued at $9.99, from Sears, Yorktown police said.

The 15-year-old teen was charged with juvenile delinquency because of his age. Had he been charged as an adult, he would have been charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor. He was scheduled to appear at the Westchester Department of Probation on Dec. 17.

The 16-year-old teen was charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor. He was scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Hall on Dec. 19.

Police said they received a call from Sears security personnel who reported that two shoplifters were in their custody on Nov. 29. Investigation revealed the two boys had exited the store without paying for the necklace.

After they were processed, one teen was released to a relative and the other to a parent.
