Police: Maid Arrested for Stealing Money from Elderly Woman

Carolyn Robinson, 48, from the Bronx, allegedly used an 81-year-old victim's debit card to withdraw $9,000 from her bank accounts.

A Bronx woman faces a felony criminal charge after she allegedly used an elderly woman's debit card to withdraw thousands of dollars from her bank accounts, police said. 

Carolyn A. Robinson, 48, worked as the victim's home maid in Shrub Oak. Police said they launched the investigation after Wells Fargo Bank, located on East Main Street in Shrub Oak, reported a suspicious incident on Oct. 24. Police said Robinson allegedly unlawfully took the victim's debit card and withdrew $9,000 between August and September. 

On Dec. 1 the defendant voluntarily turned herself over to the Yorktown Police Department where she was charged with third-degree grant larceny, a felony.

She was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail. Robinson is due in court on Dec. 8. 

Police remind residents to be careful especially when it comes to their banking and be mindful of who they give their debit cards to.
