A woman described as being in her 20s was rushed to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla this morning after she was allegedly pushed onto the tracks of the White Plains Metro-North Station and hit by a train.

Metro-North officials said it appeared that the woman, whose identity was withheld, will survive after emergency officials managed to retrieve her from the tracks and place on her on ambulance.

The incident happened shortly after 11 a.m. when a man pushed the woman on the tracks as she was standing on the platform, according to eyewitnesses. She was then struck by a train headed north, according to officials.

The train was headed to the yard and had no passengers.

Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police were able to quickly track down the man who allegedly pushed the woman and bring him into custody. Officials have yet release the man’s identity or say what he has been charged with.

Southbound train service was disrupted for about an hour and northbound train service was discontinued at the White Plains while authorities investigated the scene.
