Joseph B. Sgroia Dies at 86

Family will receive friends at the Yorktown Funeral Home on Thursday. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Shrub Oak.

From the : Joseph B. Sgroia of Mahopac passed away on Aug. 21, 2012. He was 86. 

Sgroia was born on June 30, 1926 in New York City to Albert and Leah Sgroia. He served honorably in the US Navy during WWII. He married Gene Totten on April 21, 1963. Sgroia was the owner of T&J Topographers in White Plains for more than 20 years.

He is survived by his daughter Gail Sullivan, son in-law Stephen, two grandchildren Shannon and Megan, two nieces Cathy and Linda and a nephew Steven. Predeceased by his wife Gene and his son Gary. 

Family will receive friends at the on Thursday, Aug. 23 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, Aug. 24 at in Shrub Oak at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

First of all, I don't understand why teachers are paying for anything out of pocket when the supplyRead More lists that parents receive at the end of the summer are as long as their arms. Secondly, SOCIETY lets the kids down?!?!? I think the school taxes in Yorktown should be sufficient so that the teachers don't have to pay any out-of-pocket expenses. SOCIETY does not let the kids down, it is those who are in control of the school tax monies who let the kids down. Perhaps the administrators should take salary cuts, or maybe we should even eliminate some of those administrative positions. No teacher should have to pay for supplies out of pocket.
