From the Yorktown Funeral Home: Charles Blakeslee Wallace of Yorktown died peacefully on Monday, Nov. 26, at the Bethel Nursing Home in Croton-on-Hudson. He was 86.
Wallace was born on April 5, 1926 to Charles L. and Edna (Blakeslee) Wallace in Queens. He served in the Army, stationed on the Aleutian Islands of Alaska, during WWII before he moved his family to Yorktown Heights in 1956 where he remained until his death.
He was a general contractor for Charles L. Wallace Construction and then for AJ Construction based in New York City. He was a member of the Peekskill Yacht Club for many years where he served as Commander and also served as a member of the Yorktown Heights Fire Department.
Wallace was predeceased by his wife Olive (Goetz) and their daughter Christine (Langhans). He is survived by a sister Muriel (Turner) of San Diego, Calif. and by his three sons, Wesley of New Hope Penn., Chuck of Yorktown Heights, and Claude of Yorktown Heights. The man is also survived by 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. His fondest memories were of his family, friends, and his home-away-from-home – Canada.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, Nov. 28 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Yorktown Funeral Home. A funeral mass is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 29 at 10 a.m. at the stone St. Patrick's Church (188 Church St., Yorktown Heights, NY.) Burial will follow at the Amawalk Cemetery on Quaker Church Road.
In lieu of flowers it is requested that donations be made to the Yorktown Heights Fire Department.
