Mahopac Varsity Teams Awarded Scholar Athlete Status

It is an honor when one high school Varsity team qualifies for the fall New York State Scholar Athlete Team Award. It is incredible when each of the school’s teams earn that distinction. All of Mahopac High School’s fall Varsity teams — football, field hockey, boys soccer, girls soccer, cross country, girls tennis, and volleyball — have been named Scholar Athlete teams by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association.

Bob Stulmaker, of the NYSPHSAA, said this distinction is a tribute to the athletes as well as their coaches and teachers.

“Special congratulations go out to Mahopac High School for having all of their fall Varsity teams earn a New York State Public High School Athletic Association Scholar Athlete Team Award,” Stulmaker said. “This is a true credit to all the student-athletes, coaches and parents. It’s obvious that not only do these teams achieve success on the fields of play, but they succeed in the classroom as well, and that is truly what being a student-athlete is all about.”
