Peace and Justice Sunday

On Sunday, November 13th, the First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown welcomes the Rev. W. Mark Koenig as the guest preacher at the 8:30 and 10:45 worship services, and as the leader of Adult Education at 9:30. Rev. Koenig serves as the director of the Presbyterian Ministry at the United Nations. The ministry works to inspire and equip Presbyterians for global discipleship following Jesus and to advocate for peace and justice in the United Nations community, guided by General Assembly policies. Mark served as the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program’s coordinator and associate for resources and education. He has served as the PC(USA) associate for antiracism training. He has also served on the staff of the Presbytery of the Western Reserve, working in the areas of hunger, peacemaking and justice and has been co-pastor of churches in Iowa and Ohio. He is a graduate of McCormick Theological Seminary and Westminster College (PA).

During Adult Education at 9:30 a.m. in the Lounge, Rev. Koenig will seek to answer the following questions.  Did you know there is a Presbyterian Ministry at the United Nations? What does it do? How does it help Presbyterians follow Jesus faithfully? Why do we have such a ministry? All are invited to explore these and other questions with the Rev. Koenig.
