Celebrate National Library Week at the Somers Library - April 13 to April 19

April 13 to April 19 is National Library Week and the Somers Library will be celebrating with special events all week long.

We kick off the week with a free jazz concert on Sunday April 13 (April is Jazz appreciation month), with an exciting and unique performance by David Dunaway; a local musician, composer and bassist.  David will be joined by Grammy nominated guitarist and songwriter Joaquin Liévano (also a local resident) and percussionist Emanuel Bierman.  For more information about David and for samples of his music you can visit www.daviddunawaymusic.com.

On Monday April 14, the Somers Historical Society & the Somers Library presents:  History Beyond Books @ Your Library & History Listening iPad Station Dedication.  The Somers Historical Society will showcase its recently digitized oral history collection created through a three year pilot project.  "Voices of the Hudson Valley:  Bringing New Technology to Old Stories for 21st Century Audiences".   You will learn how to hear this collection online and on a mobile phone app. and how to access other history-related websites online through a new History Page on Somers Library and Somers Historical Society websites.  The Somers Library Listening Station will be dedicated the same day!

Please check out the library calendar for details on the many adult and children's events for library week.  http://www.somerslibrary.org/.
