In celebration of summer, we are asking local officials and residents to recall their favorite summer memories in our new feature “My Best Summer Was...”

Check out Yorktown Councilman Jim Martorano's recollection of his favorite summer below.

What is your favorite summer destination: Milford Conn./cottage within walking distance from Long Island Sound.

Your best summer was... When my sons were young we would stay during the summer at my parents' cottage. It was wonderful- everything from the water - to the salt air - the BBQ s but most of all I remember and cherish the look of delight on my sons' faces  - the summers were too short and I always got a tan - oh how I miss those times!

This summer you're most looking forward to...Now I have grandchildren and I look forward to taking them to shores of Long Island Sound.
