Muscoot Tavern Re-Do Pleases NY Times; Review Pleases Owners

Muscoot Tavern owners Ann-Margaret Wagner and Eddie Lubic's year-long tenure was praised by The New York Times both for what it has done and what it didn't do.

The Times May 24 review of the refurbished eatery noted both the face-lift and the fact that the place still has that old-shoe feeling.

It was very nice that the Times mentioned the family atmosphere and comfort food, says Wagner. "That was the essence that I wanted to bring out of this restaurant that seemed to have got lost in history through out the years."

Wagner said the review has led to new customers—some of them long-time local residents.

"It has definitely brought in people that haven’t been to the 'Scoot' in a long time," she said. "I get stories of when they were children and were brought here by their parents and had wonderful memories…now they are all grown up and find it nice to see that the place is still serving great food and has a warm and cozy atmosphere.

"And we are getting NEW customers that never heard of the Muscoot and they live just around the corner," she added.

Regulars can still get in...but they might have more of a wait, she warned.
