Christina DeLeon Receives Gratitude from Town Board, Will Seek Miss New York State Title

Yorktown resident Christina DeLeon, during her first appearance after completing her reign as Miss Westchester 2011, accepted a proclamation on behalf of the Yorktown town board.

Yorktown's , who recently completed her reign as Miss Westchester 2011, appeared in front of town board members on Tuesday to receive a proclamation of the town's gratitude for her service. 

"Christina has been, and continues to be, an excellent role model for young women by being an active community member, volunteer, and who has brought positive attention to the town of Yorktown," read Supervisor Susan Siegel, who presented her with the proclamation.

DeLeon has made numerous official public appearances during her reign as a celebratory guest for charitable causes, and is a volunteer for Guiding Eyes for the Blind, as well as the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

She thanked Siegel and the town board members for recognizing her as someone who is young, motivated and trying to make a difference in her life as well as others. 

"I am proud to live in this town where I have seen many great things achieved with everyone working together as a team," she said.

Being sponsored by the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce, DeLeon plans to seek the Miss New York title. She thanked the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce members, as well as Joseph and Roxanne Visconti for their support in helping her gain enough sponsorship to compete in the Miss New York, USA pageant in January.

"This is my first public appearance as simply Christina DeLeon, the former and first Miss Westchester 2011," she said. "And with the continuous effort of our community I would love to become Christina DeLeon of Yorktown Heights, Miss New York 2012 USA." 

Siegel said she and the rest of the town board members extend their congratulations to DeLeon, and offer their "sincere thanks," and "wish her well in her future endeavors."
