Yorktown Smart Growth to Host a Joint Cash Mob at Fabric Mart-NY and "Nuttin to It!" on Thursday, September 26

On Thursday, September 26, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Yorktown Smart Growth is hosting its third “cash mob.” Enjoy breakfast or lunch at “Nuttin to It!” in their bright and spacious dining room and then visit neighbor, Fabric Mart-NY (in the Cablevision complex at the intersection of Rtes. 202 and 35). At Fabric Mart-NY, customers who mention the words, “cash mob” will receive a 10% discount on any purchase.

Fabric Mart-NY offers a huge selection of fabrics, thread, buttons, and other sewing and craft supplies, but that’s not all. Owner of 11 years Linda Speidell and her knowledgeable staff of six can answer questions about any craft. They also offer sewing classes (including one for kids), as well as sewing and quilting clubs. Fabric Mart-NY also sharpens scissors, repairs and sells sewing machines (it’s an authorized PFAFF dealer). It supports such causes as the American Heart Association, Westchester ARC, and Open Gate, and donates fabric to the “Comfort Quilt Project,” which benefits inmates at the Bedford Correctional Facility, and the “Dancing for Animals” project, which makes bedding and toys for homeless animals. In 2012, Linda Speidell won the PFAFF Ewald Cohrs Award for Acts of Kindness.

“Nuttin to It!”
has been in the catering businesses for over 20 years, and recently opened the restaurant. Owner and executive chef Rob Del Balzo (a 1995 Yorktown High School graduate) has catered for NBC, CBS, the Onion News Network, Comedy Central, the Food Network, the Discovery Channel, and HGTV. In October “Nuttin to It” will begin its third season catering Rocco Dispirito’s “Celebrity Apprentice All Stars” on Bravo. “Nuttin to It!” has delectable appetizers that include zucchini cakes, black bean cakes, and Maryland style crab cakes. Also on the menu are Shrimp and Tomatillo and Wasabi Salmon burgers and other “creative” burgers, specialty wraps, soups, salads, desserts, a full BBQ menu, and a 5-cheese Panko-Encrusted Mac ‘N Cheese. A one-stop party planner, it can provide tents, table linens, chafing dishes, and even serving staffs. “Nuttin to It!” regularly donates food to the survivors’ dinner tent at Yorktown’s Relay for Life and the Lustgarden Foundation and supports the Harrison Apar golf outing and various cancer and diabetes charities.
