SOMERS LIBRARY CELEBRATES National Library Week - April 13 to April 19

Celebrate National Library week at the Somers Library where we have events scheduled for the entire week. 

Sunday 4/13           2 pm   Jazz Concert with David Dunaway, Joaquin Lievano and Emanuel    

                                            Bierman.  Free and sponsored by the Friends of the Somers Library

Monday 4/14          2pm   “Oral Histories Gone Digital” – the Library collaborates with the Somers

                                           Historical Society in the launch of the Pelavin Listening Station. 

                                           Hear “Voices of the Hudson Valley” and access other history links from the

                                           Library’s and Historical Society’s websites.

                             All day - Springtime drop-in crafts in the Jean Reidy Children’s Room

Wednesday 4/16     11-11:45      Bicycle & Pedestrian Safety Program for children

                                 10:30-1:30  Westchester End-of-Life Coalition and the Community Fund will  

                                                      sponsor a volunteer to share information about the NY State Health

                                                      Care Proxy

Thursday 4/17        1-2:00   Children ages 3-5 can meet a Llama under the Pavilion in Reis Park

                                 3-4:00   Llama program for children ages 6+ in the Library Program Room

                                               Registration  requested

                                 3:00      Magic the Gathering Club – Library Conference Room

                                 6-7:30   Game of Life: Building a Sound Financial Foundation by Rob Sorrano.

Friday 4/18            10:30    Story time with Miss Betsy for children ages 3-5

Saturday  4/19      2-4:00  Technology Help Day – Somers High school students will help you with

                                            your charged electronics.  RSVP  via email  to  ttchang05@yahoo.com

EVENTS ALL WEEK:

Children’s Treasure Map – Primrose students read a book at home, at Primrose Library, and at Somers Library.  When done, pick up a gold coin at the Somers Library!

StoryWalk – Families can read the story posted outside the Somers Library.  When done, get a cookie inside the Library!

Waive Your Library Fines! – in celebration of National Library Week, Somers Library will waive overdue fees on all materials returned in person to the circulation desk during regular library hours.  Note:  the Library will not waive fines on previously-returned materials or on lost/damaged items.
