9/11 Memorial Ceremony in Yorktown; National Equestrian Competition in Westchester

1) The town of Yorktown will hold a 9/11 memorial ceremony at the Shrub Oak Memorial Plaza today at 5 p.m.

The Yorktown residents who died in the attacks and whose names are inscribed in the memorial are:

Danahy, Patrick William - 35 - Yorktown Heights

Dedvukaj, Simon - 26 - Mohegan Lake, NY

Friedlander, Alan Wayne - 52 - Yorktown Heights, NY

Fiori, Paul - 31 - Yorktown Heights, NY

McKeon, Barry J. - 47 - Yorktown Heights, NY

2) A national equestrian competition, that is expected to draw thousands of visitors to the area and bring millions of dollars of revenue to the local economy, is returning to North Salem today. The American Gold Cup, which will be broadcast by NBC News, will take place at the Old Salem Farm in North Salem from Sept. 11 to Sept. 15.

3) Mother’s Comfort Project Westchester's project brings volunteers together for sewing sessions to create comfortable beds for shelter animals, as well as catnip toys for the cats. The next sewing session is being held on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Yorktown. More details here.
