Cops: Two Men Steal Credit Cards from Vehicles in Yorktown

Police said one of the men used a stolen credit card to make purchases as a local gas station.

A 21-year-old Cortlandt Manor man and a 23-year-old Yorktown Heights man are due in court on Thursday to answer charges of stealing property from vehicles, Yorktown police said. 

David Sutton, of Cortlandt Manor, is facing a fourth-degree criminal possession of a stolen property, a felony. Thomas Lee, of Yorktown, is facing a fifth-degree criminal possession of a stolen property, a misdemeanor. 

Police said they received numerous reports of theft of items from vehicles on April 25. Officers Craig Scatola and Kathy McGuire began the initial investigation which revealed that some of the stolen property were credit cards and that at least one card was used at a local gas station.

Police reviewed surveillancevideo at the gas station and revealed Sutton had used one of the credit cards to make purchases. When police responded to his home on Trolley Road, they recovered additional stolen property. 

Additional investigation identified Lee as a suspect. Detectives Shanahan and Perrotto continued the investigation into the evening, located Lee at his Burgess Road home and recovered additional stolen property.

Both men were remanded to the Westchester County Jail. Bail for Sutton was set at $10,000, while bail for Lee was set at $5,000. They were scheduled to appear in Yorktown Town Court on May 2.
