Halloween Exhibit and Train Show at Lasdon Park in Somers Opens Oct. 12

Tiny ghouls, ghosts and goblins, along with a gala adult costume party will highlight the annual Halloween Exhibit and Train Show, which opens on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial in Somers. 

The show will also be open on Sunday, Oct. 13 and Monday, Oct. 14; as well as the following two weekends, Saturday, Oct. 19 and 26 and Sunday, Oct. 20 and Oct. 27 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 

The main house and the grounds will be decorated for Halloween with various ghosts, spooky tricks and an assortment of surprises in keeping with the season. The main house will have a large model Lionel train layout in the main room, and the library will have a small children’s layout where children will be able to operate trains.

There will be a small children’s hay maze near the Shop at Lasdon, which will be open with refreshments, mums, assorted pumpkins and gourds, and seasonal gifts and décor for sale.

Admission to the house and train show is $5 for adults and $2 for children (ages 2 - 12).

Adults will have a chance to celebrate Halloween during the "House on Haunted Hill" Costume Party on Friday, Oct. 25 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The evening’s events feature beer, wine, food, live music and dancing, along with a costume contest.

There will be prizes for costumes in three categories: Most Original Costume, Scariest Costume and Best Overall Costume. Winners of the costume contest will receive tickets to one of two new off-Broadway shows: “Accidental Pervert” or “Disaster!”

Tickets are $60 per person and are available online on a first-come, first-served basis. Friends of Lasdon members and group tickets for five or more can receive a $5 discount on tickets by calling the park directly for tickets.

Tickets will not be available at the door and no one will be admitted to the party without a ticket. Proceeds from all events will benefit Lasdon’s Glass House Conservatory Trust Fund.

Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial is located on Route 35 in Somers.
