Yorktown Firemen's Annual Parade Kicks off Carnival on June 26

Yorktown Heights Engine Company #1 will be hosting its annual parade on Wednesday, June 26 starting at 7 p.m. The parade will kick off the five-day carnival and fundraising effort. 

There will be rides, games and food combined for a day of fun for children of all ages. The carnival runs from June 26 to June 30. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, the gates will be open from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturday from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The parade on Wednesday will begin on Moseman Avenue by St. Patricks Church to Hanover Road. It will run north on Hanover Road to Underhill Avenue, following Underhill Avenue north onto Commerce Street. Then it will follow Commerce Street to Veterans Road and the parade will end at the Fire Department Fairgrounds. 

Yorktown Police Chief Daniel McMahon advises motorists, parade participants and spectators the following roads will be closed from approximately 6:45 p.m. until the conclusion of the parade:

  • Underhill Avenue between Hanover Street and Route 118 
  • Commerce Street between Route 202/35 and Underhill Avenue 
  • Veterans Road between Commerce Street and Maple Hill Street 
  • Kear Street at Underhill Avenue 
  • Downing Drive at Commerce Street 
  • Hanover Road between Moseman Avenue and Commerce Street 
  • Front Street at Underhill Avenue 
  • Richard, Church, and Harwood Place at Hanover Road
