Historical Society Honors Mahopac Social Studies Teacher

His family has lived in Putnam Valley for more than 100 years; he was the director of the town’s historical society; he served as a town board member and he is a local history resource for fellow teachers at Mahopac High School, where he teaches social studies. So it is no surprise that Dan Ricci was presented this month with the Putnam Valley Historical Society’s award for promoting local history.

“I love history, and I am passionate about Putnam Valley, where my family has lived for so long,” Ricci said. “It seems amazing to get an award for something you love to do.”

The Putnam Valley Historical Society presented Ricci with the award early this month at its annual awards dinner held at Char in Mahopac.
