Augie's Prime Cut Announces Golf Outing to Benefit Autism Speaks

Westchester Steakhouse Augie’s Prime Cut has announced its 3rd Annual Golf Outing to benefit Autism Speaks will take place on Monday, Aug. 12 at Hollow Brook Golf Club in Cortlandt Manor, NY.

For the third year in a row, Augie’s owners Audrey Hochroth and Sal Barone are prepping for a fun filled day to support a cause very special and close to their hearts. Their daughter Niki was diagnosed with autism at a young age and after witnessing the struggle of the devastating disorder firsthand and the toll it can take on a family, they took matters into their own hands with the creation of Augie’s First Golf Outing to benefit Autism Speaks in 2011.

“I am still amazed and impressed by the overwhelming support we received from our friends, family, customers and community as a whole from the past two golf outings,” said Audrey Hochroth, Owner, Augie’s Prime Cut. “Three years later we’re at it again and I anticipate another success. We want to increase our fundraising goals and make this year’s event bigger and better, fundraising and improving awareness for Autism Speaks as much as possible. With new statistics indicating a rise in autism, we are more determined than ever before.”

According to a recent statement from Autism Speaks, a new Centers for Disease Control survey of parents indicated that 1 in 50 school-age children has an autism spectrum disorder. This estimate is significantly higher than the official government estimate of 1 in 88 American children. Despite growing numbers, autism receives 5% of the research funding of many less prevalent childhood disorders. These striking numbers have been another driving force behind Augie’s annual golf outings, which have raised over $100,000 to date.

While the 3rd outing is set for April 12, Augie’s fundraises for Autism Speaks all year round. Currently, they are raffling off a 2013 Ford Mustang. The shiny new car sits proudly in front of the restaurant waiting for a lucky winner to claim her. For $100, customers can take the car home or they can claim $25,000 in cash. The drawing will take place after the first 500 people have purchased a raffle ticket, all proceeds go to Autism Speaks.

Augie’s has also recently announced the launch of Fat Sal’s steak sauce. The sweet but sassy sauce is now on sale at the restaurant, with all proceeds going to Autism Speaks. The team is currently working with a factory in Kingston, NY on long term bottling and aims to have the sauce on store shelves in the next few months.

Though Autism Speaks is a personal cause, Augie’s contributes to all organizations, all year round. Patrons flock to Augie’s to enjoy customer appreciation days and specials such as Lobsterfest, Thursday Music & Wine Night, 50% off Black Friday and more, but Augie’s is also constantly partaking in local and national charity events. Doubling as entrepreneurs and philanthropists, owners Hochroth and Barone have opened Augie’s doors to organizations such as Toys for Tots, the Kathleen F. Marks Memorial Foundation, The National Breast Cancer Foundation, Yorktown’s Love in Action and many more.
