Jessie Slater, Neighbor

Young Yorktown Advocates United is a Yorktown based group dedicated to raising awareness about youth related issues in the community and providing help to prevent tragic behaviors. 

The organization was started by Jessica D'amato in memory of her sister, Lauren D'amato.

Our group is made up of young people, students and others and some involved in the clinical field. We organize fundraisers in order to provide awareness events and relief efforts to the young people of the Yorktown community. Our main areas of focus are depression, addiction, suicide, and self injury among the local youth and how we can work together to prevent tragedy.

I, myself, will blog on behalf of YYAU to highlight local happenings that will enlighten the community on our efforts as well as to get advice from the community on how we can be more effective at reaching out. Opinions are welcome!
