<p>The Town of Yorktown was settled in 1683 and incorporated in 1788. It is located in Northern Westchester County and approximately 35 miles north of New York City.</p> <p>Yorktown is 40 square miles and is made up of five business hamlets -- Mohegan Lake, Shrub Oak, Jefferson Valley, Crompond, and Yorktown Heights. It covers rolling hills, farmland, residential area and light industry. </p> <p>The town offers recreational facilities with over 1400 acres of town and state parks. Five miles of the 22-mile North County Trailway bike and pedestrian path passes through Yorktown. It provides residents with a scenic ride or walk through the town. </p> <p>The Yorktown Community and Cultural Center is home to various activities, including the Yorktown Stage theater, a gymnasium, the Yorktown Teen Center, the Yorktown Senior Nutrition Center, and the Yorktown Museum. </p>
