Peter Pratt's Inn

Peter Pratt's Inn, a famous colonial listed on the Yorktown Historic Registry, is located in the oldest section of Yorktown. The inn is situated at the battle site of the demise of General George Washington's Northern Continental Command Post to the British Tories in 1781.

The inn was originally part of the Carpenter-Davenport homestead (John Carpenter was the original builder and architect) which encompassed 250 acres. Much of the inn remains authentic in its colonial design and construction. Since 1926 the building has operated as an inn, though the property has lived through a number of fascinating incarnations, which are described in detail on the inn's Web site.

Today Peter Pratt's Inn is owned by Jonathan Pratt and Craig Purdy and continues its wonderful restaurant tradition. It offers a dining experience that feels like last century, as well as the some of best American contemporary cuisine found in the entire county.

Right next door in Croton-on-Hudson, you can visit Umami Restaurant, also owned by Jonathan Pratt and Craig Purdy.
