Celebration of An Amazing First Season

Everyone had a great time on Saturday at the 2013 Awards Party at Kirby’s Bar & Grill. “It was like one big family reunion” according to one of the players with lots of smiles and laughs all around.

Trophies and awards were presented with the Blooper Awards stealing the stage as the highlight of the party. Blooper categories were based on feedback from the teams and included Loudest Mouth, Forrest Gump, Reggie Jackson, Best Belly Flop (and Still Making the Play). The Blooper Awards brought out more stories of other bloopers during the season and even more laughs!

Championship trophies were awarded to our league champs, The Comeback Kids, and to Fahgettaboutit, our runners-up.

We all enjoyed reminiscing about the season and how much fun we had playing softball on beautiful summer mornings. Many players mentioned how many new friendships were formed through the league, and Tom Jordan gave a heartwarming speech about friendship.

We discussed next year — we are all looking forward to forming teams. Ideas for next season include hosting a clinic for players with less experience and playing our First Annual All-Star Game. Lots of “thank-yous” all around, not only for the YSA staff but also for other teams and players.

It was a day of story telling and catching up. We all learned so much more about each other and are excited to renew our friendships on the field next summer.
