Yorktown: Mohegan Lake Day 2013

Yorktown: Antiques and Flea Market

Description: There will be some new vendors and something for everyone. Organizers have also made sure there will be food too.

Description: Wake Robin and Acker House are hosting a great day that will continue on into the evening! We hope to see some familiar faces! It begins at 10am with a Vintage Tag Sale. Come find some treasures! Tagine and Baked by Susan will also be there in the late afternoon, providing some tasty French treats and Strange Pools will play into the evening on the lawn. It will be a fabulous day for all!

Croton: Saw Mill River Audubon Second Saturday Walk

Where: Brinton Brook Sanctuary, Rte 9A, Croton

Cost: Free

Description: Our monthly walks will continue year round on second Saturdays at 9:00 am at our largest sanctuary, Brinton Brook in Croton-on-Hudson. No pre-registration necessary. Meet in main parking area off Route 9A. Good for ages 6 and up. Held rain or shine except in cases of severe weather or road closures. New Rochelle: Wellness and Rejuvenation Day

Where: The New Dawn Foundation, 590 Davenport Ave., New Rochelle

When: Saturday, July 13 at 9 a.m.

Description: Come to our healing fair and try massage, Reiki, EFT, Vortex and more. You can schedule treatments with all of our practitioners that day. Find the healing modality that is best for you. We will also have Ayurvedic and aromatherapy products. Treat yourself to a day of wellness, relaxation and rejuvenation along beautiful Long Island Sound.

Pelham: Pelham Art Center’s Faculty and Student Showcase

Where: Pelham Art Center, 155 5th Ave., Pelham

When: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cost: Free

Description: Pelham Art Center presents its Faculty and Student Showcase. This annual exhibition features both two- and three-dimensional work in a variety of mediums by the Art Center’s distinguished teachers and enthusiastic students. Exhibited work ranges from charcoal to oils, black and white photographs to digital prints, and mixed media to ceramics.


Sleepy Hollow: Phelps Farmers Market

Where: Entrance of the Rockwood Hall area at Rockefeller State Park. Convenient free parking is available in the Rockwood Hall parking lot at the end of Route 117.

When: Begins Thursday, July 11, 2013, 11 to 3 p.m. and continues Thursdays through November.

Cost: Free

Description: The Farmers Market at Phelps is back and at a new location. Returning vendors include favorites like True Food and Wright's Apple Farm, while new additions at Phelps span from Red Barn Bakery's organic baked goods to Black Forest Flammkuchen Co.'s thin crust pizzas and R&G Produce's seasonal fare. There will also be a number of rotating vendors this year, including Penny Lick Ice Cream's cart, Clean Ridge Soap Company and the Bronx Baking company, "famous for their bacon-wrapped pretzels." Rye: Big Band at Playland

Where: The boardwalk at Playland park

When: Friday, July 12, 7:30 to 10:30 p.m., also July 19, 26 and Aug. 2

Cost: Parking is $5 on Friday evening, $1 for senior citizens with a Westchester County Park Pass.

Description: The Milt Gerver Orchestra is a 40s style big band. You can also catch the fireworks at 9:15 p.m.


Tarrytown: From a Child's Perspective

Where: Washington Irving's Sunnyside, 3 West Sunnyside Lane, Tarrytown

When: Tours at 10:30, noon, 1:30, 3 p.m. on July 11, 18, 25 and Aug. 1, 8, 15, 22, 29.  

Cost: Admission: $12; $10 for seniors; $6 for children 3-17. Free for members and children under 3.

Description: Thursdays in July and August, parents and children are invited to travel back to the 19th century and explore the home of Washington Irving through a child’s eyes. Play games, hear stories, race through a scavenger hunt, and participate in hands-on-activities. Explore Sunnyside as a family home, specially decorated with period toys and children’s clothing. Tarrytown: Sunset Jazz at Lyndhurst

Where: Lyndhurst, 635 South Broadway, Tarrytown

When: Thursdays starting July 11, 6:30 p.m.  

Cost: Free.

Description: The majestic 67-acre Lyndhurst estate on the Hudson River will provide the backdrop for a wonderful evening celebrating Jazz Forum Arts (www.jazzforumarts.org), and the 36 free concerts the not-for profit organization is hosting throughout Westchester, Connecticut and Manhattan this summer. According to Mark Morganelli, who also serves as executive director of Jazz Forum Arts, “We’re doubling the number of free events at Lyndhurst this summer, offering eight Thursday ‘Sunset Jazz at Lyndhurst’ concerts from July 11 to August 29.
