Halloween Parade, Carnival and Costume Party; 'Cash Mob' at Yorktown Shops

There are tons of ways to keep busy around Yorktown and Somers this weekend, and we're here to help you decide which happenings are for you. Here are the details for several great events.

Yorktown: Halloween Parade and Carnival

The Yorktown Parks and Recreaction Halloween Parade and Carnival will be held on Saturday, Oct 26. starting at 2 p.m. The Halloween parade will begin at the Yorktown Plaza Park (Rexall’s). Participants will march to the Yorktown Community and Cultural Center for outdoor Halloween activities, costume showcase, hayrides and a pumpkin patch. The vent is free to all Yorktown residents. No registration is required. The event is co-sponsored by the Yorktown Lions.

Yorktown: Cash Mob Trailside Café and Wishes Boutique

Yorktown Smart Growth will host a "cash mob" at JJ Scoop House/Trailside Café (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.) and Wishes Boutique (10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) on Friday, Oct. 25 (Commerce and Kear Street).

Enjoy samples of some new flavored ice creams and soups at “JJ Scoophouse/Trailside Cafe!” in their shop and then visit neighbor, “Wishes Boutique." Customers who mention the words “cash mob” at “Wishes Boutique” will receive a 20-percent discount on any single purchase. A door prize will be raffled off as well.

Yorktown: Pumpkins, Hiking and Vegetable Day at Hilltop Hanover Farm

It's going to be a day of family fun at Hilltop Hanover Farm on Hanover Street in Yorktown Heights on Saturday, Oct. 26. You can begin your day with a hike and end it with a handful of pumpkins and a bag of fresh vegetables.

The day begins with a fall-guided tour with one of the farmers. The tours will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at 12 p.m. There are more than 187 acres to explore, but the farmers/naturalists will only hike you through a few acres. Please be sure to bring a pair of comfortable shoes appropriate for light hiking.

After the hike you can then pick some pumpkins and select some fall vegetables at the farm stand. The “Pumpkin Day” activities actually run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The farmers will also be providing a free farm tour at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Mohegan Lake: Halloween Dance Party

Intrigue Dance & Fitness, located at 1950 E Main Street in Mohegan Lake, is holding a Halloween dance party for children on Friday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. You must wear a costume and sneakers. Snacks will be served. There is limited space available. The best costume wins a prize too. The cost is $20 per child.

Mohegan Lake: Salon V Grand Opening

Salon V, located at 1859 E Main Street in Mohegan Lake, is inviting everyone in the community to stop by their salon and meet the staff during its grand opening on Saturday, Oct. 26. They will have refreshments, giveaways, and raffles tickets to anyone who gets a service done.

Somers: 'House on Haunted Hill' Costume Party

Adults will have a chance to celebrate Halloween during the "House on Haunted Hill" Costume Party on Friday, Oct. 25 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Lasdon Park in Somers. The evening’s events feature beer, wine, food, live music and dancing, along with a costume contest. There will be prizes for costumes in three categories: Most Original Costume, Scariest Costume and Best Overall Costume. More details here.

Somers: Annual Cupcake Wars

The Somers Education Foundation will hold its Second Annual Cupcake Wars. Watch team of teachers and administrators from all four schools battle it out to win the title of Cupcake Masters. It will be held at Somers High School this Saturday, Oct. 26, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds benefit will benefit the Somers Education Foundation. Regeister at www.sefny.org.
