Blood Drive at Fieldhome

Fieldhome and the American Red Cross are running a blood drive on Thursday,  Nov. 14 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Fieldhome – Holy Comforter, 2300 Catherine Street, Cortlandt Manor. Walk-ins are welcome, but to avoid a wait, schedule an appointment with Lynn Tecchio at 914-739-2244 x5613. For more information on donating blood click here.

'Comedy for a Cause'

Support Connection's 'Comedy for a Cause' will be held on Friday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. at Travelers Rest, 25 Saw Mill River Road (Route 100), Ossining. Proceeds will benefit Support Connection’s free breast and ovarian cancer support services and The Barbara E. Giordano Women’s Health & Education Foundation Annual Day of Healing and wellness programs.

Enjoy the “hysterically funny, original and animated” comedy of John Iavarone and “Crazy” Gene Trifilo. The cost is $50 which includes dinner, soft drinks, coffee and the show. Reservations are required. For more information call 914-962-6402 or email info@supportconnection.org.

The Official Blues Brothers Revue

Discovered in Las Vegas, performers Wayne Catania and Kieron Lafferty capture the infectious humor and unbridled spirit of the Blues Brothers like no one since John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd walked the stage on Friday, Nov. 15 at the Paramount in Peekskill. 

Backed by a powerhouse band, they’ll give you a show to remember, packed with classic hits from the Blues Brothers catalog, including Soul Man, Rubber Biscuit, Sweet Home Chicago, and more with Paul Schaffer as musical director.

My Brother Vinny Let's Give Thanks Holiday Food/Coat Drive

For the third year in a row, Yorktown's Paula Miritello is holding her annual 'Let’s Give Thanks, Holiday Food/Coat Drive' Party on Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Yorktown Elks Lodge. Donations – such as food, coats, gently used shoes and pet foods – are accepted at several locations through Nov. 16, when all efforts will culminate with a party at the Elks Club in Yorktown. 

The Yorktown Elks Lodge is located at 590 Waverly Road. People can drop off their items at the location from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Food Drive party will be held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will be vendors, food, drinks, raffles, cupcake decorating, arts and crafts for kids and more. 'Train the Trainer' in Shrub Oak to Help Wounded Warriors

Pure Physique in Shrub Oak will host its annual Train The Trainer, an event to raise funds for Hope For The Warriors®, a national nonprofit organization that assists post-9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty.  

The event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a Social Hour to follow. In 2011 Train The Trainer raised $2,900 for a Sergeant First Class who was wounded in Iraq. Last year, Train The Trainer raised close to $3,500 for a USMC Sergeant and USMC Lance Corporal.

Lakeland High School Presents 'Our Town'

The Lakeland High School drama club, Wig 'n' Whiskers, is presenting 'Our Town,' the Pulitzer winning drama by Thorton Wilder. Performances will be presented at the Lakeland High School Theater starting at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15 and Saturday, Nov. 16. Tickets are $10 and seating is reserved. Yorktown High School Students Perform "The Shadow Box"

Performances will be held on on Friday, Nov. 15 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $10.00 and can be purchased online via this link.  

Yorktown High School junior Sara Fisher  is the Assistant Director for this production.  The cast includes:  Sydney Olney (Maggie), Eleanor Lougee-Heimer (Felicity), Scott Carney (Joe), Michael Pancirer (Mark), Ryan Cohen (Steve), Liam McAuliffe (Brian), Caitlin O’Connell (Beverly), Willow Leitner (Agnes) and Jenna Shulman (The Voice).

Sarah Fischer  is Assistant Director.  The tech crew includes:  Jason Bucolo and Mathew Hirsch – lighting; Joanna Fitzmorris, Joe Menduni and Mike Pancirer – sound; Holly Ferrara, Morgan Forde, Lexi King, Nicole Maiello, Nicole O’Brien, Ariana Reinhertz and Emily Watson – backstage.


Gigantic Tag Sale at Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School

The tag sale is hosted by the Middle School chapter of the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) and it will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Proceeds will go toward future FBLA events and the March of Dimes. Tables are $25 for those who want to participate. Donations of unwanted goods will be accepted. Contact Elaine Cohen at ecohen@lakelandschools.org or Maria Jeffrey at mjeffrey@lakelandschools.org for more information. 

Boy Scout Troop 173 Cook Out

Members of Boy Scout Troop 173 Yorktown, charted by St. Patrick's Church, are hosting a Cook Out at the Grange fairgrounds on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to dusk. Boy scouts and their families will be bringing their outdoor cooking skills to the Grange fairgrounds for a day of scouting fun. There should be a large variety of different foods being cooked, including a 50-lbs pig. 

First Annual Somers Girl Scouts Turkey Trot

The First Annual Somers Girl Scouts Turkey Trot – 5K run/family walk – will be held on Sunday, Nov. 17 at Primrose Elementary School. The 5K race begins at 9 a.m.The first 100 people to sign up get an early bird pricing and a free shirt. The money raised will help support scholarships and community events run by the Somers Girl Scouts. More for information click here.
