Senior College Night at Lakeland; Yearbook Pictures, Yorktown's Homecoming

Monday, Sept. 30

  • The first fall Senior College Night will be held on Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. at Lakeland High School. "This is an essential program for both students and parents to ensure everyone is on track with the college process, particularly with regard to new online application requirements," according to school officials.
  • Registration for Lakeland's Fall 2013 Continuing Education classes is now underway. You may register via mail or in-person from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily at the Lakeland Administration Building, 1086 East Main Street, Shrub Oak. Courses range from personal fulfillment to self growth. Classes begin Sept. 30.
  • Yorktown High School Yearbook pictures for grade 9 are being taken today, Sept. 30.
  • 'Meditation for Women with Cancer' is being held at the Mahopac Library at 6 p.m. It is open to people living with breast, ovarian or gynecological cancer. To learn more or to pre-register (pre-registration is required), call Yorktown's Support Connection at 914-962-6402 or 800-532-4290.
Tuesday, Oct. 1
  • Yorktown town board members will meet Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall. Click here for the agenda.
  • Yorktown High School Yearbook pictures for grade 10 are being taken today, Oct. 1
  • Somers High School sophomore Adam Circle will lead a Chess Club class for students in grades 3-5 on Tuesday at the Somers Library from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. Registration is needed.
Wednesday, Oct. 2
  • Yorktown High School Yearbook pictures for grade 11 are being taken today, Oct. 2.
Thursday, Oct. 3
  • The Lakeland Board of Education will hold a work session on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lakeland Administration Building, 1086 East Main Street, Shrub Oak. The meeting is open to the public. Although there is no opportunity for public comment at work sessions, there are two opportunities for public comment at the Board's regular monthly meeting.
  • Somers town board members will meet on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall.
Friday, Oct. 4
  • It's Yorktown High School's homecoming this weekend, which begins with a bonfire at 6 p.m. and a dance at 7 p.m.
