Meet Somers Candidates; Candlelight Vigil in Yorktown; Full Day Kindergarten Discussion

Monday, Oct. 7

  • Yorktown Board of Education members will meet tonight at 7 p.m. at the Mildred E. Strang Middle School cafeteria. Items on the agenda include discussing "steps towards investigation of full-day Kindergarten possibilities." For the full agenda click here.
Tuesday, Oct. 8
  • Somers League of Women Voters members are sponsoring a "Meet the Candidates" for Westchester County Legislator, Town of Somers Supervisor and Town of Somers Councilmen on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Somers Town Hall.
  • The Lakeland School District's Special Education PTA (SEPTA) will hold their first meeting on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Lakeland High School library. The keynote speaker will be Marcella Moran, MA, LMHC. The presentation topic will be "ADHD: A new vision, a paradigm change in the classroom and beyond.

  • A candlelight vigil for Domestic Violence Awareness Month is being held on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Yorktown Town Hall, 262 Underhill Avenue in Yorktown Heights.
Thursday, Oct. 10
  • Green Yorktown and Yorktown SmartGrowth Present: "Hear Your Yorktown Candidates on Local Environmental and Smart Growth Issues" on Thursday at 7:30 pm at the Fourth Unitarian Church 1698 Strawberry Road in Mohegan Lake. More details here.
Friday, Oct. 11
  • Hilltop Hanover Farm's farmstand is open on Friday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Pick up freshly harvested produce grown on the farm without the use of pesticides, synthesized fertilizers or herbicides.
