Yorktown Non-Profit Raises $26,000 For Individuals with Disabilities

SPARC (Special Program and Resource Connection), a Yorktown-based nonprofit organization that provides therapeutic recreation for individuals with disabilities, held its 14th annual golf outing on June 10 and raised $26,000.

"This important fundraiser helps to provide scholarships, community inclusionary experiences and 1:1 aides for children on the autism spectrum, among many other therapeutic recreation services," said Rose Rothe, SPARC’s Founder and Executive Director.

SPARC provides more than 80 weekly programs to 1,000 children and adults with developmental disabilities every month. Additionally, SPARC provides Kids Express to general education students after-school in the Yorktown, Lakeland and Somers school districts, among others, teaching children about making and being a good friend.

Rothe presented the organization's first annual golf outing honoree recognition award to James Newell, a CPA of Commerce Street in Yorktown Heights. He was joined by his wife, Diane and daughter Cynthia Newell with husband Thomas Bartholomew.
