Photos: Yorktown Girl Scouts Receive Gold Awards
Nearly 200 girls received their Gold Award, which is the highest award girls can earn in scouting, during the Girl Scout Centennial Banquet in White Plains.
Girl scouts and their parents celebrated the 100th anniversary of the organization during an event Saturday at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.
Nearly 200 girls received their Gold Award, which is the highest award girls can earn in scouting. Several Yorktown girls attended the ceremony to receive their Gold awards at the packed-to-capacity county center.
"Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place," Yorktown councilman Vishnu Patel said.

He presented a congratulatory certificate to the Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson organization on behalf of the town of Yorktown.
